What to Expect During Your Tour

Your journey begins at the old port of Fira, where the boat departs for the volcano bay. You’ll have around 1 hour and 30 minutes to explore the area. There’s a €5 entrance fee to access the volcanic site. Your knowledgeable tour escort will lead you along the volcanic path, highlighting significant points of interest. The hike up to the top requires moderate physical effort, so come prepared for a bit of adventure.

Once your volcano exploration concludes, the boat will head toward the hot springs of Palea Kameni island. Upon arrival, you’ll have 30 minutes to swim in the warm, mineral-rich waters. The boat will anchor approximately 30–40 meters from the shore, so strong swimmers will be required to make the journey to the thermal waters.

After exploring, cruise back to Old Port of Fira, taking in the stunning scenery along the way. Reflect on your adventure and capture a few final photos of Santorini’s incredible landscapes.

Where Does the Tour Begin?

The tour departs from the old port of Fira, nestled at the base of the caldera. To ensure a smooth start, please arrive at the port at least 45 minutes before departure. You can reach the port either by taking the cable car (10 euros per person) or by walking down the steps. Once you arrive, look for the SantoStar office near the cable car exit. Our team will guide you to the designated area where you can wait for your boat.

How to Get to the Starting Point After Arriving from Your Cruise Ship:

Once you arrive at the old Fira port via the tender boats from your cruise ship, reaching the SantoStar office is a breeze. The tender boats will drop you off near the tents, and the office is just a short walk away—only a few seconds.

After your excursion, when it’s time to return to your cruise ship, finding the right tender boat will be just as easy. All the cruise ship tents are situated close to our office, so you’ll have no trouble spotting the one that’ll take you back.

What to Bring with You:

For the volcano tour, we strongly suggest wearing comfortable hiking shoes, as the paths can be steep and difficult to navigate. In addition, don’t forget to bring a hat, sunscreen, a swimsuit, and a couple of towels for the hot springs. We also recommend leaving your jewelry behind while swimming in the hot springs, as the sulfur in the water can cause it to tarnish. Your comfort and safety are our top priorities, so having the right gear will help ensure you have an enjoyable and smooth experience.

You can receive a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before the excursion starts. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the excursion will not be refunded.
